We have an idea of the top jobs for eBook authors in Ireland, according to the latest figures released by the UK’s publishing company C&T Publishing.
C&T’s latest job figures show that eBook publishing jobs have grown by more than 30 per cent over the last 12 months, with the majority of those increases being in Ireland.
Online retail and eBook publishers, however, continue to lag behind, with employment growth falling from 25.4 per cent in May to 17.4 last month.
There are over 1.3 million jobs in ebook publishing, up from 1.1 million a year ago, according the latest report from C&G.
However, as with many sectors of the economy, ebook sales are likely to suffer as a result of the Brexit vote.
The overall jobless rate in Ireland is 4.9 per cent, up 0.7 percentage points from March.
The national rate remains at 5.1 per cent.
The figures highlight the challenges facing authors as they try to meet demand in a rapidly changing market, especially with a rise in ebook sales following Brexit.
It is the third consecutive month that employment in the ebook publishing industry has fallen, following a fall in the first half of 2017.
The figures also show that jobs in the category of ebook distribution and digital publishing, which include ebooks sold through Amazon, have also shrunk by a further 9.3 per cent to 6,858 positions.
C & T is currently recruiting in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
