A new book on sale in December 2016 will include just a handful of the authors whose works have been cited in books published in the past few years, but which won’t have been included in most of the titles on offer.
Cedar Fort Publishing announced on its website on Wednesday that a Christmas 2016 edition of The Great American Novel would include a small number of books written by all those authors who were credited with a book published in 2016.
“We’ve decided to publish a limited number of these authors’ books, as we’d like to be able to give them as much exposure as possible,” Cedar Fort Publishing co-founder and chief executive officer Ben Aiken said.
It’s a small but welcome move that will make it easier for readers to discover these authors.
“Many authors who haven’t been featured in their own books are making their way back into the spotlight thanks to this new book,” he said.
“We hope that this limited number will give them the exposure they deserve, and that they’ll enjoy the book as much as we did.”
The announcement comes as some publishers have begun to explore ways to include authors in their new annual lists, with a new anthology of novels set to be published in 2018 by the publishing house of the same name.
The Great American novel was published in 2017, and was the first of several titles to be included on the book’s first edition.
However, the publisher’s publication of a book featuring the same authors as the 2017 edition has been widely criticized, and the books being published in 2019 and 2020 have been heavily criticized for not including many of the writers who have been credited with the book.
Some publishers, including Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster, have also begun to look to include a larger number of authors in future editions.
